Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service is an American success story.
It begins with a young man’s enterprising idea and his willingness to work long hours to create his own opportunities. The late Stephen L. Vukelic started bottling soft drinks in his native Lackawanna, New York in 1928, at age 27, to meet the demand of thirsty Western New Yorkers during prohibition. Thus, Try-It Distributing, the parent company of Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service, was born.
The Rise of Try-It Distributing, Our Parent Company
In 1933, Stephen L. Vukelic began distributing beer, with Phoenix as the major brand. When Try-It added Budweiser and Michelob to its product list in 1946, Stephen, fondly known as “The Chief,” had charted the course for the company’s successful future.
In 1949, Try-It Distributing began its’ relationship with Labatt’s, and since the sale of the soda business in 1958, Try-It has steadily soared to reach its current prominence as one of the nations most respected beverage distributors.
Today, Stephen’s son, Gene, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and Gene’s sons, Paul, President/Chief Operating Officer; Timothy, Director of Training and Safety, Peter, Vice President of Governmental, Industry and Corporate Affairs and Matthew, Area Sales Manager are dedicated to serving Try-It’s extensive Niagara Frontier clientele with integrity and excellence.
The Growth of Saratoga Eagle Sales & Service
In September 2005, Jeff Vukelic left his position as Executive Vice President at Try-It Distributing to assume the responsibility as President/Chief Operating Officer of Saratoga Eagle Sales & Service.
Formerly known as Northern Distributing, Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service, has been in business since 1933 servicing Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, Washington, and Essex counties.
Saratoga Eagle has experienced exponential growth. Through acquisition the company’s footprint now incorporates Albany, Rensselaer and Franklin counties. Through organic growth and excellence in the trade, Saratoga Eagle represents the most well respected and best selling brands in the market place. Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service operates out of a state of the art 150,000 square foot facility with over 180 stakeholders, delivering 5,000,000 cases to over 2,500 customers. All accomplished under a unifying motto: Our Best… Every Day!
Community service is fundamental to the Vukelic Family. Saratoga Eagle advances education about responsible consumption of alcohol. The company routinely provides responsible server training for their retail partners. For many years the company has spearheaded awareness programs in area schools, and participates in media campaigns that carry the message of moderation.
A major supporter of organizations and charities benefiting children, Saratoga Eagle’s management and staff serve on numerous community boards and committees. Saratoga Eagle is committed to its role of good corporate citizen. Saratoga Eagle is active in supporting events that add to the enjoyment of life in the Capital region, such as Saratoga Performing Arts Center; City of Albany Special Events including Alive at Five and the Tulip Festival; as well as concerts and Brew Fests, and charitable events throughout their territory.
